Stepping from student to postdoc

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

After earning her PhD, Arely Torres was able to line up a postdoc position without even changing buildings. She applied to Archer Daniels Midland and was accepted as a postdoctoral researcher working on collaborative projects at CEBC. Arely likes her postdoc work and says it’s very different from the research she conducted for her PhD. “That was more individual,” she says, “Now I work with a larger group, with chemists and engineers both at CEBC and at ADM.”

Arely says the project is highly structured, with an objective to use research data to determine economic viability. She enjoys receiving feedback and having concrete milestones.
