ADM to leace lab space in Lawrence, KS

Friday, April 20, 2012

One of CEBC’s long-time corporate partners is setting up a small lab right next door.

Starting this summer, agribusiness giant Archer Daniels Midland will lease laboratory space in the building adjacent to CEBC.  The proprietary corporate project involves scaling up a process technology for synthesizing chemicals from biological sources.  The scale up will involve both ADM researchers and CEBC postdoctoral associates.

“We are excited to see ADM take advantage of facilities near CEBC where some of the technical groundwork began,” noted Darryl Fahey, industrial liaison director of the CEBC.

The lab and office space is managed by the Bioscience & Technology Business Center at the University of Kansas.  The BTBC was launched in 2010 as a business incubator to drive commercialization of university-based research. It currently houses 11 tenants.
